Welcome to Graz – Information about the City of Students

(Bild: Grazer Innenstadt)

Graz, the capital of the Province of Styria, is located in the southeastern part of Austria just 48 km from the Slovenian border and 70 km from the Hungarian border.

With a population of some 285,000, Austria’s second largest city is home to cultural activities which have always been rich in tradition on the one hand and very sensible of contemporary trends and open-minded to the new on the other hand.

With altogether 45,000 students and 3,400 university employees, the four universities, i.e. Karl-Franzens-Universität (University of Graz, KFU), Technische Universität (University of Technology, TU Graz), Medizinische Universität (University of Medicine, MedUni Graz) and Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst (KUG) (University of Music and Performing Arts, KUG), shape the atmosphere and the appearance of the city of Graz fundamentally.
