University Council elects Rectorate Team proposed by Georg Schulz – one male and three female Vice Rectors

In its meeting of 9 December 2019, the University Council of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG) unanimously voted in the Rectorate Team proposed by elected Rector, Georg Schulz. The team comprises four Vice Rectors – three female and one male.

In alphabetical order they are:

Gerd GRUPE, who will be Vice Rector for Research and Quality Management. The Music Ethnologist has been a professor at KUG since 2002, and since 2009 has successfully led the Doctoral School, which he helped establish.

Barbara SIMANDL, who remains Vice Rector and will be responsible for Finance and Human Resources in the new Rectorate. She has been Vice Rector at KUG since March 2012 and is highly qualified in her field.

Constanze WIMMER, who will be Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and International Affairs. She has been Professor of Artistic Outreach at KUG since March 2019. Before that she was also a successful member of the Executive Committee of Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität Oberösterreich in strategic planning of university teaching.

Maria ZEICHEN-ZIEGLER, who will be Vice Rector for Infrastructure, Gender and Diversity. As a management expert, she has been responsible for infrastructure and facilities at the Niederösterreichischen Verkehrsorganisationsgesellschaft since 2012, and is actively involved in inter-company and inter-ministerial working groups on equality and diversity.

Alongside his statutory duties as Rector, Georg SCHULZ will also be responsible for Arts. The new KUG Rectorate will begin its four-year period of office on 1 March 2020.

“I am confident that a good, strong foundation for the positive development of KUG has been laid today,” said Herwig Hösele, Chairman of the University Council, expressing his satisfaction that, after a long and laborious legal process, today’s election of the team proposed by Georg Schulz marks the achievement of an important goal.
