Admission to the Master's Programme Teacher Education: Music Education and Instrumental Music Education

The Programme for Teacher Education for Secondary Schools (General Education) of the development network South East ("Entwicklungsverbund Süd-Ost" / "EVSO") is offered for the following school subjects at KUG:  

  • Music Education
  • Instrumental Music Education (only in combination with Music Education!)
  • Technical and Textile Design as well as
  • Art Education (from Winter Term 2020/21 on only starting of the Bachelor´s Programme!)

Starting from Winter Term 2019/20, the Master's Programme for Teacher Education for Secondary Schools (General Education) of the development network South East will be offered - at KUG for the school subjects Music Education and Instrumental Music Education. From 2022/23, the Master's Programme will also be offered for the subject Technical and Textile Design (subject to the approval of the competent bodies!).  

Applicants with another mother tongue than German have to submit a proof of their German language competency (Level C1/CEFR) prior to the admission procedure.

Admission requirements for the Master´s Programme Teacher Education Secondary Schools (General Education) - Music Education as school subject:

 

Admission requires the successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree of Music Education (Teacher Training Programme Music Education in the area of ​​the secondary general education “Sekundarstufe Allgemeinbildung”) or the Degree of a relevant, equivalent Degree Programme at a recognized post-secondary educational institution.

 

For graduates of the Bachelor´s Programme Music Education in the “Entwicklungsverbund Süd-Ost”, admission to the Master's Programme Music Education is possible without any further requirements.

 

For external applicants the following applies:

Admission to the Master's Programme is only possible after passing a colloquium by an examination board.

The judgement of the qualitative admission requirements is made up of the following parts:

Applicants have to proof their

  • Skills in song accompaniment as well as
  • The experienced handling of electronic media for music lessons

The fulfilment of the qualitative admission requirements is based on the competences acquired in the Bachelor´s Programme in the two areas mentioned above (Courses: “Schulpraktisches Klavierspiel”, “Kinder- und Jugendstimmbildung”, “Musik und Computer”).

In the course of this colloquium, the applicants have to prove their artistic-pedagogical and artistic-scientific potential for being admitted to the Master´s Programme.

Admission to the Master´s Programme Secondary School Teacher Accrediation – Instrumental Music Education as School Subject requires the successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree of Instrumental Music Education (Teacher Training Programme Instrumental Music Education in the area of ​​the secondary general education “Sekundarstufe Allgemeinbildung”) or the Degree of a relevant, equivalent Degree Programme at a recognized post-secondary educational institution.
