Postgraduate University Courses

At the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz fee-based postgraduate university courses are offered, which make it possible for graduates from regular degree programmes to improve their musical and interpretive skills as well as the technical know-how on the respective instrument or as a singer.
For postgraduate university courses an online application is required in time to the respective application deadline (Winter Term: 3 June or 3 September - ATTENTION: not offered for all instruments or voice / Summer Term: 13 January). A completed Diploma or Master's Degree or equivalent (or for the PgUC Soloist Diploma p.B .: Bachelor´s Degree) in the respective major artistic subject at a recognized post-secondary educational institution is considered as a prerequisite to be invited to the entrance exam.

In the course of the entrance exam three compositions of one´s own have to be presented in front of the examination board.

There are currently no entrance exams for the Postgraduate University Course Instrumental-Correpetition. This course of study starts in the academic year 2021/2022, at the earliest.

- 1 December (Entrance exam in January; this date is not offered every year! Start in Summer Term)

Procedure of the entrance exam:
1) Nomination
From all applications, including viable video material, the most suitable candidates will be nominated for the entrance exam by the respective examination board of instrumental studies.
2) Entrance exam
The examination board decides about the admission. For the entrance exam a programme consisting of a series of different epochal styles with a duration of 30 minutes at the level of difficulty of a Master's final exam has to be prepared (see curriculum Instrumental Studies).
Dates of admission tests and entrance exam deadlines:
There are currently no entrance exams. This course of study starts in the academic year 2021/2022, at the earliest.
PLEASE MIND: After passing the entrance exam you are not automatically admitted – the enrolment has to be done personally at the Registrar´s Office (Palais Meran, Leonhardstraße 15, ground floor, 8010 Graz) in time! See also "First steps to becoming a student"!
