Admission requirements

The admission procedure at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz is structured differently depending on the chosen field of study. In addition, it is important to note the respective different dates and deadlines. For some degree programmes there are not several entrance exam dates offered per academic year and a start of the studies is only possible in Winter Term. For other degree programmes a start is possible in Winter Term as well as in Summer Term.

For all fields of study (with the exception of Musicology) you have to pass an entrance exam. The application deadlines, the detailed information on the online application and the respective admission procedure can be found on the website of the respective field of study.

In addition to admission to a degree programme or university course, it is also possible to take individual courses (co-registration or extraordinary approval) or to study for one or two semesters as an exchange student ("Incoming") within a mobility programme (e.g. Erasmus+ etc) at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.

Important information about admission to the studies can be found in § 63 of the University act as amended:

Please pay attention to University act of 2002 § 63, paragraph 8: "Simultaneous admission to the same studies at more than one university in Austria is impermissible."
⇒ This means that if you are already registered in a degree programme at another university in Austria, you first have to close your studies there before you can be admitted to the same degree programme at KUG!
