The University of Music and Performing Arts Graz offers the interuniversitary study programme Musicology in cooperation with the University of Graz. Through this cooperation, the core competencies of both universities can be united and it is possible to provide a programme in humanities and cultural science that offers a wide range of specialisation opportunities.
The students acquire the skill to understand and interpret processes, facts and methods of different areas of musicology. The education serves the theoretical and practical introduction and deepening in musicological understanding and reasoning and serves as an entrance to the professional fields in the humanities and the cultural sector.
Focus of the study programme is world music, jazz, popular music, music in history, aesthetics of music, music psychology and acoustics.
