Central contact and service point for prospective students, university applicants & first-year-students

The Welcome Center of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz acts as a first central contact and service point for prospective students and university applicants.

The Welcome Center helps to provide optimal conditions for studying at KUG, relieves other administrative bodies of KUG and ensures that teachers and students can focus on their artistic process from the beginning.

Moreover, the Welcome Center is editing the homepage (section "Studying"), and is responsible for the further development of adequate student recruiting/marketing.

The team of the Welcome Center provides information on the following topics and offers further contact options:

  • Entry to and stay in Austria, registration system
  • Insurance
  • Handling studies and specific circumstances
  • And much more

The team of the Welcome Center is represented throughout Austria with an information desk at several information fairs and will inform you about the fields of study as well as about the respective admission requirements. Interested persons will receive information and advice and there will also be extensive information material available.

In addition, the team of the Welcome Center is pleased to participate in information events in schools on request, in order to inform pupils about the possibilities of studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.

Depending on the desired field of study, it is advisable to contact the teacher with whom you would like to study before you apply online for the entrance exam.

The platform Guest Audition provides information on the contact details of teachers of the main artistic subjects of KUG. It also serves as an information platform concerning the consultation options of teachers of your choice before the entrance exams, if applicable.

 

The service "KUG-Student4OneDay" allows you to get a taste of being a student of KUG for one day before you take an entrance exam and/or you do the enrolment. In a relaxed atmosphere, you can ask all your questions, get an insight into the life of a student and get in touch with prospective fellow students and possibly members of KUG. Thus, you will get a helpful impression of studying at our university.

Accompanied by a student of KUG, you can get a taste of being a student of KUG for one day e.g. by exploring the campus, leisure facilities and learning places around the campus. Thus, you can get an insight into the life of a student.

Initial admission / Enrolment at KUG

If you want to enrol to the University of Music and Performing Arts (KUG) after passing the entrance exam, please carry out the enrolment in due time via e-mail to Registrar's Office: studienabteilung(at)kug.ac.at!

Consultationon on schools & KUG Backstage

The service "KUG Backstage" serves to guide school classes (and interested groups) through the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. In addition, the team of the Welcome Center is available on request for consultations directly in schools.

Enquiries/registrations are always possible!

KUG on educational institutions

In order to be able to inform pupils about the fields of study and the respective admission requirements at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, the advisory team of the Welcome Center is pleased to be available locally at schools and educational institutions with an information stand and/or a short presentation.

Please send invitations and appointment requests via e-mail.

KUG Backstage

"KUG Backstage" (on-site visits at KUG) - our service for educational institutions and multipliers - provides customized and individual programmes such as campus tours through the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz or short visits at institutes.

In order to create an appropriate programme for your visit at KUG, we kindly ask for an early appointment request (please at least 3 weeks before the desired date) and the announcement of the approximate participants-number (and optionally the desired degree programme and the time slot) via e- mail. Afterwards we will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

YES, the Welcome Center is a first central information and service point at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and therefore it offers basic information - please mind, that it is not possible to provide detailed information on specific topics relating to other departments.

The following fields of duties are not performed by the Welcome Center:

  • Intervening against the decisions of the authorities (but the Welcome Center will provide adequate information for your consultation with the authorities)
  • Formal examination of your documents for your application or checking, if they are complete (area of ​​competence: Registrar´s Office, Dean of Studies)
  • Information about your results of the entrance exam (area of competence: Registrar´s Office)
  • Specific individual advice for enrolled students of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz regarding their application for courses with reference to their curricula (area of responsibility: ÖH-KUG)
  • Guaranteeing that you will receive grants, allowances, others (but the Welcome Center will provide important information about grants, allowances, others)
  • Doing applications or taking the responsibility for something in your stead
  • Issuing any necessary confirmations, notices etc. (area of ​​competence: Registrar´s Office)
  • Offering or guaranteeing that you will receive an accommodation (but the Welcome Center provides adequate information about the possibilities)
  • Counseling, which is in the field of the competence of the Psychological Student Counseling Service (psychosocial concerns)
  • Offering or guaranteeing that you will receive a place in a child care center or similar (but the Welcome Center provides information about further contact possibilities)
  • The Welcome Center is also no first contact point for exchange students or persons, who are interested in an exchange programme (area of ​​responsibility: International Office) or in a short term visit at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (responsibility: respective institute or respective project management).
  • The Welcome Center is no first contact point for new employees at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (only for prospective students and university applicants).
  • The Welcome Center is no service contact point for already enrolled students - only for prospective students and university applicants (responsibility: ÖH-KUG).

On 15 November 2016 the official opening of the Welcome Center took place in form of an open day for all KUG members. The now complete team lead by Eva Calvi-Fuchs is delighted to be available for enquiries about planning and beginning your studies at KUG!
